The goal of the Therapeutic Massage modality is to relax body and mind whilst improving muscle tone and blood circulation. Areas of tension are released and replaced with a general feeling of relaxation and well being.
For best results, the whole body should be worked on, but partial treatments are also possible.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
This is a gentle hands on massage solely intended to optimise the flow of lymphatic fluid in the body. It reduces swelling and moves toxins out of the tissues.
This treatment can be done as a full body massage or a partial treatment.
Hot/Cold Stone Treatment
This treatment combines the instant results of a deep tissue massage with deep relaxation. Muscular tension will melt away through the skilled use of heated (and sometimes frozen) stones. Smooth, carefully heated, natural basalt stones are placed at key points on the body to promote deep muscle relaxation, and the following massage with heated stones increases this effect. Sometimes, cold stones are added to the massage to deepen blood circulation in especially tight or inflamed areas.
This treatment will leave you feeling completely relaxed and radiant. It also brings about a lasting change to the muscles without creating any residual soreness. Works well as a full body treatment, but can also be applied as a partial massage.
Deep Tissue Massage
In this modality, the therapist uses the pressure of fingers, fist, elbow and/or forearm to manipulate tissues beneath the superficial fascia in an attempt to relieve chronic muscle problems or injuries. It may not always feel relaxing, but never becomes unbearable either. And even one treatment can achieve a noticeable change.
Works best as a partial treatment on particularly sore/restricted parts of the body.
Physical Therapy aims at preserving, enhancing or restoring movement and full physical function which may have become impaired by injury, illnesses, accidents or bad body alignment.
At the Burren Wellness Centre, modalities used are hands-on soft-tissue manipulation, ultrasound, Kinesiotaping and applied biomechanics to restore well-being.
Reiki is a technique for stress reduction that also promotes healing. When translated from Japanese, Reiki means the spiritual guiding of live force.
This treatment is carried out with the recipient lying down fully clothed on a plinth. Sometimes the hands of the therapist make gentle touch connection, at other times not.
This treatment is always done to the whole body and is hugely relaxing and restoring.
Yoga-Thai Massage / Pranassage
For this treatment, the recipient is lying on mats and blankets on the floor and stays fully clothed throughout. No oils or lotions are used.
Yoga-Thai massage is an ancient healing system combining acupressure, Indian Ayurvedic principles and assisted Yoga postures.
This is always a full body treatment. It will leave you feeling deeply relaxed and stretched.
The reason for combining therapies is that some modalities work really well together, like Deep Tissue combined with Hot Stones, or a relaxing Holistic Massage rounded off with Reiki. The possibilities are endless. To get your tailor made treatment, ring either Helga or Jerry and explain what you are looking for. They will listen to you and provide you with your unique treatment blend.
Prices depend on treatment duration and modality.
Helga’s professional knowledge coupled with her innate ability to feel and heal is second to none. She is truly brilliant.
As a tetraplegic patient I receive weekly manual lymphatic drainage by Helga. With the help of her treatment I now can control the problems of my body fluids much more effective. Helga combines a universal understanding of the body with a unique therapeutical sensibility. She not only knows where her treatments hurt, she also knows why they have to.
“Jerry provides a holistic therapeutic massage in an ambience of relaxation and understanding of the additional needs of an adult with autism whom I support “……highly recommend,
